Frustrated and Confused

Sun May 17, 2009, 2:20 PM
Well, I thought I'd figured out where I was going to transfer to next year for my BFA, but now I'm not so certain. My sister and I went to go visit Western Michigan University and it has a really nice campus and the admissions representative we spoke with was very nice and helpful, however the representative from the art department rubbed us the wrong way. He was very helpful in answering questions, but he seemed to have an over inflated opinion of their program in regards to how it compares with everyone else and seemed to have a low opinion of people transferring in from community colleges. My credits would transfer very smoothly and I'd only have about 2 more years there, but between him and the fact that I'm not comfortable majoring in jewelry design at a college that only has three classes in it I think I'm going to look elsewhere. From what I'm seeing it will probably have to be an actual art school that I'll have to go to. Unfortunately they're way more expensive, but they're more likely to have the classes I need and more than just three of them. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

I guess if youre going into designer jewelry and jewelry repair it wont affect you as much...

Hopefully not. I would like to be able to start my own jewelry buisness at home. But I know that before I can do that I'll probably have to work under someone else for awhile, and with jobs being as scarce as they are who knows where I'll end up working until then.
well, there seems to be no lull in people buying gold around here, have you ever been to 47th street in nyc?

Nope. The only part of New York City I've been in is the airport a good number of years ago.
If youre into jewelry its definitely a place to visit :)
